48Stunden Neukölln Festival Startbahn Genezarethkirche Herrfurthplatz 14, 12049 Berlin
Chairsberg
ChairsBerg is a 45-minute performance by members of the 2chairs artspace e.V. A landscape of chairs fills the spiritual centre of the Genezarethkirche, hiding and housing performance artists who rise and subside into the landscape. At times they perform alone, other times as an ensemble before disappearing, only to rise again.
The central landscape will be continually enhanced by Sarah Schulz's ribbon and rubber weavings through the chairs, and visitors are encouraged to participate. Stefano Loiacono's artwork moves through the chaired landscape as action art. Camila Piana plays a game of her own inventing to enjoy chance and trace the movements. Choreographer Jac Carley plays with the motions of history that have been set free in this church and unites the group in this journey. 'The absurdity of it all' is Bernd Reichert's commentary, referencing the Dadaist manifesto that underlies all modern performance work. Exploring issues related to gender and power, Lena Ash works with chairs as a metaphor for the social structures that constrain and limit women to disrupt and challenge patriarchal norms and expectations.
