Jacalyn is interested in women's stories and classical nudes. Does traditional beauty deflect from inner honesty? Can that be turned around? She is exploring both the sensual and the brutal, traits she feels women know more intensely than men. Is it possible to reveal and to honour the sensual and the brutal, the conflict of classic Vs honesty, in a work of art? Jacalyn uses pastels that are literally massaged into handmade paper and often incorporates texts of female abuse, shame and/or frustration.
